For over 20 years, I worked on the shop floor of a Tier 1 automotive parts manufacturer in aluminum die casting.
One thing became clear through that experience.
The real challenge in sourcing from China was never pricing power, or whether a spec sheet checked out.
The real problem was the absence of someone on the ground who truly understood the engineering intent and the quality standards being demanded.

Background
Production-Engineering Experience in Japanese Tier-1 Manufacturing
I have more than 20 years of hands-on production-engineering experience at a Japanese Tier 1 automotive supplier, focused on die casting production, tooling and equipment introduction, production launches, quality improvement and supplier support.
My background is in production engineering rather than product design: launching and stabilizing mass production, introducing equipment, managing dies and fixtures, improving quality and productivity, and supporting manufacturing suppliers.
